Simply place the purifier on a stable surface near an electrical outlet, connect the power adapter to the purifier and then plug it into the mains outlet. The base of the purifier emits a light that flashes three times (green-green-green) to indicate compatibility with the DC adapter. Your purifier is then ready to use.
In common language, we talk about UV disinfection. This refers to UV-C purification and not UV-A purification, which corresponds to our technology. UV-C only acts against pathogens present in water by preventing them from reproducing. They are effective if you don't have access to drinking water, such as stream water. At home, since tap water is already drinkable, disinfection by UV-C is... useless!
Oui !
You just need to place the LaVie bottle in the purifier. An integrated sensor automatically detects the presence of the bottle. The LEDs light up in blue along the entire height of the purifier.
At the end of the treatment, 15 minutes by default, the LEDs turn off. The bottle containing now purified water can be removed from the case for immediate consumption or placed in the refrigerator.
UV-A radiation causes the photolysis of chlorine. Through this reaction, chlorine is eliminated. This process generates free radicals with strong oxidizing power that attack contaminants present in the water (traces of medication, bacteria, traces of pesticides...)
Yes !
There is no limescale in tap water, but calcium, which is a liquid form and an essential trace element for our health. Our treatment preserves it in its liquid form and removes its bad taste, provided that the water doesn't have too high a hardness level. Thanks to LaVie, limescale formation in your household appliances is reduced by half!
Thanks to its very low electricity consumption, the LaVie water purifier allows you to purify 1000 liters of water for about $1 of electricity. The purchase pays for itself in 1 year for a family of 2 people compared to bottled mineral water. Pretty good, right?
At the tap. Make sure not to fill your LaVie bottle to the top: leave 1 or 2 cm of air.During treatment, the water heats up slightly (1 or 2°C), and if there isn't a bit of air to allow room for the water to expand, the pressure created poses a risk of breaking the bottle.
No!
The complete device has been validated by SGS for its light safety because we use UV-A, not B or C. Our safety class even allows you to stare at the light for three hours without retinal damage. The certifications are noted in the instructions.
No. The quality of your tap water is regulated and subject to health inspections. Its pH is legally between 6.5 and 8.5: no need to adjust it.
No maintenance is required, however, with use, certain particles or dust barely visible to the naked eye may settle at the bottom of the tube. These can obstruct the detection lens, forcing you to constantly plug and unplug the device. To get rid of them, simply vacuum with a small vacuum cleaner nozzle inside the tube, or blow with a hair dryer for example. If the problem persists, send us an email at contact@lavie.eco and we'll find a solution together.
It is not recommended to modify the default 15-minute treatment duration if the chlorine level in your tap water is not greater than approximately 0.5 mg/l. However, if necessary, you can modify the treatment duration by keeping the purifier plugged in, without a bottle, and pressing the protected push button located under the purifier, using a small pointed object. One click will allow you to switch to 22 minutes of treatment (blue LED), another click to 30 minutes (red LED). To return to the initial 15 minutes, a new click will be necessary (green LED).
The UV-A LEDs integrated into the purifier have a lifespan of more than 10 years (manufacturer data).
The bottles are self-cleaning thanks to the LaVie process. Nevertheless, we recommend washing them once a month in the dishwasher, except for the cap, so as not to damage the wood. It's even simpler to clean the glass with white vinegar or baking soda and a little warm water, as long as you don't use abrasive detergent.
Treated and closed LaVie bottles can be stored for more than 6 months whether in the refrigerator or at room temperature. After opening, the WHO recommends consumption within 48 hours.
According to the French National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES): The filters used in filter pitchers lower the pH of water, degrade the microbiological quality of water and rapidly release contaminants into the water (sodium, potassium, ammonium and silver ions). Additionally, filter pitchers generate plastic and chemical waste.
